Romantic Spots in Dublin

With our reputation as a social and cultural hub, you’re guaranteed plenty of places to visit and things to do in the vibrant city of Dublin. Dublin is also an ideal place for a romantic trip with that someone special. Each couple has their own idea of a romantic trip but in our opinion, you can’t go wrong with a great restaurant, a cosy walk in the park or a visit to a fairy-tale castle. For great value accommodation, and to save money on pricey Dublin hotels, choose alternative accommodation like DCU Rooms for your romantic trip.

Restaurants

Dublin is a foodie paradise with gourmet restaurants, gastropubs and cafes on every corner. We are renowned for the excellent quality of our meat, veg and dairy across the country. One of our favourite places for a romantic brunch with excellent food is Andersons Creperie who specialise is French-inspired dining. They do more than an excellent pancake; their sandwiches & egg dishes are unbeaten in the area. For a very cosy dinner with the one you love, head to the well-established Il Corvo Restaurant for a candlelit Italian meal. If you love hearty Italian Food and fresh flavours accompanied by an impressive wine menu, Il Corvo is perfect for you.

Parks

We’re lucky to be surrounded by some great parks in Dublin, from the biggest walled park in Europe to quainter local green spaces. If you’re lucky enough to visit in the summer months, bring a romantic picnic and enjoy lunch alfresco on the grounds of DCU or in the gorgeous St Anne’s park in Clontarf, just 15 minutes’ drive from DCU Rooms. If you find yourself here in the cooler months, you’ll be delighted to see our parks stay green all year round (thanks to the high rainfall!). Wrap up well and drive 10-minutes to the gorgeous Phoenix Park for a romantic winter walk.

Botanic Gardens

One of the most notorious and beautiful of Dublin’s green spaces has to be one of our closest neighbours, the gorgeous Botanic Gardens. The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland are an oasis of calm and beauty, a place to spend an afternoon hand in hand exploring all of its hidden treasures an admiring the many indigenous flora and fauna of Ireland. It’s free to enter and you can take your time here, making sure to enjoy the water features, the gorgeous greenhouses and the Rose Garden which is most impressive in Summer. There are also The Garden Tearooms to enjoy a charming lunch.

Malahide Castle

Imagine visiting a real-life castle, complete with turrets and an 800-year old heritage. Malahide Castle and Gardens are just 20-minutes’ drive from our value accommodation and are a perfectly romantic setting to re-enact your favourite fairy-tale. Malahide Castle is one of Ireland’s oldest castles and the accompanying ornamental gardens cover a massive 22 acres. There are over 5000 different species of plants and the grounds are also home to Ireland’s only butterfly house, home to 20 different species of butterflies.

Love Lane – Temple Bar

Not to be confused with actual ‘Love Lane’ on the other side of the city, Crampton Court in Temple bar has been renamed & revamped as Love Lane and is now one of the brightest and best lanes in Dublin. The lane has been decorated with large artworks and murals, quotes from famous loving poets and authors and some tiny nuances you might miss if you’re not paying attention. You’ll often find young lovers sitting on the ground discussing the art and tourists trying to capture the perfect Instagram shot. It’s one of the many little parts of the city that makes it a truly special place to call home.

If you’re looking for alternative accommodation, perfect for exploring all of the romantic spots in the city and beyond, DCU Rooms is ideal for you.
